Shanthi Johnson, PhD (Principal Investigator)
Working in collaboration with the Sun Country Health Region and community partners, the project will create an age-friendly community garden in Estevan, Saskatchewan, during the 2015 growing season. Led Fulbright Scholar Dr. Shanthi Johnson and the community nutritionist, the project will include community education on different aspects of gardening, facilitated by seasoned local gardeners and/or experts.
Goals / Outcomes: Specifically, a total of 20 raised garden plots will be built with support of youth from the local alternative school, immigrant families, and seniors. One of the goals is to promote heathy aging in place for seniors.
