Comparative Policy Analysis for Falls Prevention and Active Aging

Through a number of projects, Dr. Shanthi Johnson has conducted extensive research on falls as a leading cause of mortality and morbidity among older people. For this project, she will be researching falls and injury-prevention policies as a way to reduce falls and related injuries among older frail people.

Goals / Outcomes: The objective of this project is to establish a framework and carry out a comparative policy analysis of falls and injury-prevention policies. A first phase will involve development of a framework for analysis and dialogue from the active aging and falls/injury prevention perspective, based on existing literature and in collaboration with project partners. The second phase will consist of a comparative policy analysis of the falls and injury-prevention policies.
