HIV/AIDS, maternal health and mother identities

This community-based research determines the inter-relationship between women’s experiences with motherhood and HIV/AIDS in a context where HIV/AIDS is highly indigenized. The project is led by Pamela Downe, University of Saskatchewan (Principal Investigator), and it includes Co-Investigators Karen Lawson and Jennifer Poudrier of the University of Saskatchewan.

Goals / Outcomes: Researchers hope to assess how mother identities affect the health-related beliefs and behaviours of women accessing the services of AIDS Saskatoon, and determine what HIV/AIDS related resources and services in Saskatoon and regionally are empowering to mothers infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
